In a first step, the available bird movement data will be acquired and then combined with data on land use as well as wind turbine locations and metrics. Subsequently, the input parameters of the RKR model (e.g. habitat preferences, flight altitude distribution, avoidance behaviour around wind turbines, and intensity of use depending on the distance to the breeding place, among others) will be determined empirically and validated using modern statistical methods. Robustness analyses will then examine to what extent, for example, measured habitat preferences can be transferred to different regions within Germany. Finally, the calculation procedure (cf. Mercker et al., 2024b) will be adapted and documented for each species.
