In the course of the approval of wind turbines, it is technically and legally necessary to address the impact on bird species at risk of collision. This requires an assessment of whether there is a significant or clear increase in risk for the species concerned. The application of the RKR model enables a scientifically sound and comprehensible risk analysis that fulfils the legal requirements and improves the protection of birds in the context of the expansion of wind turbines.
